Nevian Lifescience PLC marks a new chapter in Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical landscape, carrying forward the rich legacy of Novartis while embracing a renewed vision for the future.

Formerly known as Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited, the company has been renamed following the historic acquisition of its majority shares by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited from Novartis AG Switzerland. This transition has been executed in full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, while the shareholding status of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) remains unchanged.
The journey began in 1973 with the establishment of Ciba-Geigy (Bangladesh) Limited as a joint venture with BCIC, later renamed Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited in 1996 following the global merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz AG. For over five decades, the company has brought world-class, life-saving medicines to countless patients in Bangladesh — a mission made possible by the unwavering support and trust of the country’s medical community.

The name Nevian draws inspiration from two Latin roots: Neveo, meaning “to shine,” and Nevius, symbolizing “starting afresh.” This embodies the company’s aspiration to shine in excellence while moving forward with renewed energy over a long-standing foundation of trust and innovation.

With this transformation, Nevian Lifescience PLC ensures uninterrupted access to Novartis’ global brands in Bangladesh — through both imports and under-license manufacturing using the same raw materials, processes, and at the same EUGMP-certified production facility in Tongi — thereby maintaining the same uncompromising quality and efficacy.

Building on this strong legacy, Nevian has already partnered with Sandoz to continue exports to its global markets and is now working towards expanding exports to the USA, Europe, Latin America, and other developed countries. This vision aligns with Nevian’s ambition to position Bangladesh as a reliable global hub for high-quality pharmaceutical products.
